A collection of lighting objects explores production, value, and disruption within Hamilton Central Europe’s high-precision manufacturing environment in Timișoara. Made from discarded components during a residency, the project reflects on how industrial control and intervention shape material meaning.

From Here to the Cosmos | Guillemette Legrand and Marian Neagul

An installation that places the viewer in front of a spherical mesh explores algorithmic simulations of Earth’s geophysical conditions generated from local environmental data in Timișoara. By visualising processes such as cloud detection, land use, and ground motion, it questions the gap between human perception and computational models of the planet.

Landscape Mode | Simone C Niquille

A panorama explores Romania as a composite cinematic landscape shaped by film, television, advertising, and game production that uses its locations as stand-ins for other places. Drawing on set-jetting tourism, folklore, and AI-generated 3D assets, the project constructs a familiar yet uncanny visual culture of outsourced and appropriated imagery.

Synthia | Flora Lechner and Cristina-Sorina Stângaciu

A design installation exploring the dynamics of design and control in the relationship between humans and cars. Synthia is equipped with sensors for interaction and communication with her visitors, who can explore her creative genesis through videos, images, and text.

Presented through the form of a waste sorting facility, the project reveals how waste operates as a traded commodity shaped by policy, economics, and environmental consequences.

Working Class Hero | Alina Lupu

A collection of stories explores the lives, challenges, and support systems of minimum wage workers in Timișoara. Through fictionalised characters informed by interviews and research, the project reflects on economic precarity and the potential automation of service-sector labour.

A Lexicon of Orientation

A set of visual and linguistic vocabularies that articulate Timișoara’s economy and geography through five glossaries, five data visualisations, and five AI-generated images. Together, they examine five pivotal subjects: industrialisation and technological development, workers and mobility, import and export, automotive industries, and the outsourcing and IT sectors.
